The 2025 Met Gala, held in New York City on Monday, showcased an array of stylish and bold outfits from some of the world’s wealthiest individuals. This year’s theme, "Superfine: Tailoring Black Style," encouraged guests to embrace tailored fashion, and billionaires delivered looks that were both sophisticated and innovative.
Among the best-dressed were Grace Murdoch and Wendi Murdoch, who dazzled in fitted white outfits adorned with gold embroidery and a high collar reminiscent of traditional Chinese attire. Wendi complemented her ensemble with striking accessories like a gold headpiece and lace-up boots, while Grace opted for a sleek blazer and pleated skirt.
However, not all fashion choices were well-received. Gustav Witzoe caught attention for his whimsical white suit, complete with a sheer cape and cowboy hat, which felt more playful than elegant.
The Pritzker family also made an appearance, with Mo Pritzker shining in a glamorous blazer over a skirt, while John A. Pritzker chose a simple black tuxedo, which seemed out of place at this vibrant event.
Mellody Hobson, the chairman of Starbucks’ board, stood out in a sparkling gray tweed suit, while her husband, George Lucas, opted for a more traditional navy suit.
Unfortunately, Kim Kardashian stuck to her usual tight-fitting style in a leather-textured two-piece, which, while fitting the gala’s theme, felt somewhat uninspired. Similarly, Tory Burch appeared in a plain white maxi dress layered with black beaded chains that didn’t quite capture the tailored essence the event called for.
Lastly, Anthony Pratt made a bold statement with a bright green suit emblazoned with recycling logos, accessorized with a bowler hat and cane. Though eye-catching, the casual shoes he wore detracted from the overall look.
While the Met Gala has always been a platform for celebrity fashion, this year’s event was a colorful blend of triumphs and missteps in the world of haute couture.
