Austin has reported its first safety concern involving Tesla’s Robotaxi service, according to the city’s autonomous vehicle incident dashboard. The incident took place on East Oltorf Street in downtown Austin.
A Tesla spokesperson has not yet commented on the situation, and the Austin transportation department has not responded to inquiries regarding the incident. The dashboard tracks safety concerns related to autonomous vehicles, including incidents involving companies like Waymo and Zoox. Over the past two years, it has documented 120 incidents, with 45 occurring in 2025 alone.
The dashboard compiles reports from city departments and the 311 service, but the data is unverified and may not capture all incidents across the city. Tesla launched its Robotaxi service on June 22, starting with a limited fleet of 10 to 20 vehicles, each monitored by a safety operator seated in the passenger area, with remote operators ready to intervene if necessary.
